When you think of St. Patrick’s Day, what comes to mind? Leprechauns? Shamrocks? People wearing green to work or school? A festive night at the local Irish pub?
For a lot of people, St. Patrick’s Day offers a sufficient excuse to go out for a night of celebration and drink a toast in honor of St. Patrick, although the majority of the crowd has absolutely no idea who he was. Born back in the 4th century and considered to be Ireland’s patron saint, it is debatable whether St. Patrick would approve of how modern-day American society prefers to celebrate his life by consuming excessive quantities of green beer!
Regardless, each year on March 17th, nightspots and taverns across the nation will welcome “Irish” celebrants ordering up their preferred adult beverages, whether that might be Killian’s Irish Red, Guinness Stout or perhaps some Irish whiskey. Unfortunately, with this increased drinking inevitably comes many more arrests, serious accidents, injuries and deaths caused by drunk motorists.
In an effort to decrease the chances of those unpleasant incidents, and also to offer a night of fun and merriment, M&M Limousine Company of Greater Cincinnati has introduced a limited-time “Luck o’ the Irish” specially-priced limo package. For just $49 per person, M&M Limousine Company will offer a chauffeur-driven limo for five hours (there is a minimum of eight persons required). Passengers may have the chauffeur drive them to their favorite restaurant or Irish tavern, or pay a visit to several different nightspots.
Scott Mezger, co-founder and owner of the Greater Cincinnati limousine company since 1987, remarked, “We consider this to be a good opportunity for a bunch of friends to go out on the town and have a fun time without having to be concerned with driving, and the price we’re offering the package for is a much better bargain than the high court costs, penalties and high-risk insurance premiums caused by a DUI.”
With quite a few states and localities stiffening their laws, fines and penalties for driving while impaired, this deal is certain to be eye-catching to those who take pleasure in a night on the town without the additional anxiety and consequences of attempting to drive after several drinks.
So, is there any legitimacy to the story that actual leprechauns have been reported driving Mezger’s limousines on St. Patrick’s Day in past years? “Well, let’s just say that I’m sure some of our passengers think they have witnessed leprechauns … and even more after a few stops on the Irish pub crawl route,” Mezger said with a wink.
Mezger advises calling early in order to book your limo before they are sold out. The rate of $49 per person is for 5 hours and requires an 8-person minimum; the price includes sales tax and chauffeur gratuity. The package is subject to availability; other limitations may apply; please call for details.
